TWENZETU – PEPFAR 2023/2024

About the project

This project aims to help Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW), their male partners, and Key Vulnerable Populations (KVPs) in Kirando, Korongwe, Kabwe, and Namanyere Wards of Nkasi District access better HIV prevention and testing services. Specifically, it focuses on increasing the use of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), a medication that helps prevent HIV infection, and making HIV self-testing more available.

AGYW and KVPs often find it hard to get the HIV prevention tools they need because of stigma, lack of money, and limited healthcare options in rural areas like Nkasi District. By promoting PrEP, this project aims to give AGYW and their partners a reliable way to protect themselves from HIV. Additionally, making HIV self-tests more accessible and private can encourage more people to find out their HIV status regularly. This helps with early detection and getting people the care they need sooner. By focusing on these areas in Nkasi District, the project hopes to make lasting improvements in HIV prevention and testing, helping to lower HIV rates and improve health in the community.
